The weight of this skin sags like iron on our screaming bones
Dark as the night it shines but it shines with trepidation
The mantra that has been drilled with nails into our bones says we are less than we are

We hear these words every time we take in air into lungs laboured by fear
We fail to give it another thought but the words chase us, haunting our dreams

God must know best, He put us here with those who think less of us
We question everything we have seen even as the answer hits us
Some lives matter more than others

Being black it’s understandable that I would fully support the BLM movement. I’m sharing this in solidarity with my brothers and sisters suffering right now in America and everywhere else. I am a strong believer that black lives should matter now especially as more light is being shone on police brutality.”
