My brothers and sisters are dying
There is blood running cold in the streets
Innocent people are crying
Outside but there isn’t relief

My country is falling to rich men
My people are falling to guns
The government covers the top ten
And leaves the poor out in the sun

The love for my home now is failing
The riots have only begun
Destruction and pain are trailing
Behind them, the war is yet to be won

The whole world around me is burning
A subject to violent mutiny
We were promised a land made great again
But change requires some scrutiny

I live in a land chance
The home of the free and the brave
But senseless slaughter’s not freedom
Peace and safety is what we all crave

My brothers and sisters are dying
There is blood running cold in the streets
The people have stood up to protest
They will not fall in defeat

“I wanted to help but because I can’t go to protests or donate, I wanted to provide what I could — my writing. The piece itself is my lens on the political and cultural climate in light of the current events going on.”
